With the barbed wire - can’t touch this :)
With this painting, I wanted to create the here and there division, as well as the before and after one.
The classical female nude - that perhaps is somewhat resembling the Velasquez Rokeby Venus at the National Gallery of Art in London, which has been famously slashed with a knife by a suffragette - is here imprisoned in the wire net, immediately becoming unreachable.
How does it make you feel?
In the process of experimentation with the barbed wire I got few scratches myself.
So this physical experience prompted me to add scratches to her back. You can make them out if you look closely.
Named after Titian’s Olympia.
